Q: Can I install my above ground pool in the ground or below grade?

A: Atlantic Pools are designed and tested for above ground installations only. We do not recommend any inground or below grade installation of our products.

Q: Why doesn't my liner fit?

A: To determine why your liner is too small or doesn't fit properly, review the following:

  • It is too cold. Vinyl will shrink and stiffen when the temperature is below 65 degrees. The sun will soften the vinyl making it easier to pack folds and wrinkles.
  • Your pool is out of round.
  • There should be two inches of sand or Styrofoam under the pool liner with an eight inch cove along the inside of the pool wall. Do not use coarse sand.
  • The pool may not be level.
  • The liner may have been installed unevenly. Verify that the bottom seam of the liner is centered in the pool. The liner may be pulled to one side.

Q: Can I install my pool myself?

A: Yes. Atlantic Pools are designed to be the easiest pool in the industry to install. All Atlantic Pools include a step-by-step manual.

Q: Can I backfill against my swimming pool?

A: We do not recommend you backfill against your pool. When backfilling your wall, you are creating a change of the hydrostatic pressure of the soil. This pressure may be greater than that of the water, and during the winter thaw, it may cause your pool wall to bulge inward.

Q: How long does it take to install a pool? How many people are needed?

A: Above ground pools take approximately two days to install. One full day to complete the ground preparations and another to construct the pool. It is recommended that you have four adults. Please note: oval pools tend to be more labour-intensive and, depending on the style of the pool, it may be beneficial to have a professional installer do the job.

Q: What are my top rails made of?

A: Top rail and upright verticals come with Texture-KoteŽ coating for durability, the Galvanized Steel Frame is sealed with an exclusive coating to resist corrosion, scratching and U.V. rays.

Q: What should I consider before purchasing an above ground pool?

A: Before you purchase an above ground pool, you should:

  • Check your local codes and bylaws regarding pools in your area.
  • Locate the pool site. Make sure there is enough space for the buttress system (oval pools).
  • The site you choose should be as flat and firm as possible.
  • Depending on the slope of your backyard, earth-moving equipment may be required.
  • Be prepared to purchase Brick Sand, sifted Dirt or Play Sand.
  • When you purchase your filtration system, take a sample of your water with you.
  • Ask questions!

Q: Can I install my pool directly on grass or fill?

A: No. You must remove all sod from your pool site. In addition, you must erect your pool on levelled, solid, virgin soil. You cannot erect your pool on fill.

Q: Why should I check on zoning laws in my area?

A: You should always check with your local bylaw office regarding permits for pools, fencing requirements and electrical regulations in your particular region or zone. Some residential areas have very strict bylaws. These vary from city to city.

Q: My original safety labels that I attached to my pool's frame and wall have worn away. Where can I get replacement labels?

A: Safety labels can be obtained by calling our Customer Service department. We will gladly send you a set of replacement labels at no charge.
